A hospital’s faculty development is a critical component to any successful learning initiative. The goal of our Faculty Workshops is to offer real world examples and then coach faculty through practice sessions, practical step-by-step guidance, related to all aspects of blended learning (on demand and clinical simulation). Faculty need be trained to use the tools and understand the methodology to create engaging, valid and meaningful learning experiences. Whether self-paced or team training, on demand or clinical simulation, faculty need to be aware of the nuances of designing courses. Within the context of our Experiential Learning Framework, we provide a set of subject matter neutral, open educational resources related to blended learning courses. This faculty workshop is for faculty who have less than one year's experience in course design. It is also intended for faculty who have been designing for more than one year, but have no formal training in course design.
The purpose of a training needs assessment is to identify performance requirements and the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by an agency's workforce to achieve the requirements. An effective training needs assessment will help direct resources to areas of greatest demand. The assessment should address resources needed to fulfill organizational mission, improve productivity, and provide quality products and services. A needs assessment is the process of identifying the "gap" between performance required and current performance.
When a difference exists, it explores the causes and reasons for the gap and methods for closing or eliminating the gap. A complete needs assessment also considers the consequences for ignoring the gaps.
